Those hoping to enjoy some camping in Hope are going to need to find some campfire alternatives. As of Thursday (June 8), campfires will be prohibited in the District of Hope.

Announced on the Hope Fire Department’s Facebook, the ban, which will remain in effect until Oct. 30, is in “conjunction with the BC Wildfire Service and the Coastal Fire Centre.” According to the fire department, the ban does not apply ” to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or portable campfire devices that use briquettes, liquid or gaseous fuel, provided they are CSA or ULC approved.”
