Members of the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board (CADREB) collected bags of blankets and clothing at this year’s drive, helping several non-profits prepare for the cold and wet months to come.
The annual Realtors Care event was held Nov. 20 in Chilliwack, Agassiz and Hope.
Donations were collected drive-thru style thanks to COVID-19, but that didn’t diminish the giving spirit of eastern Fraser Valley residents.
“Together we collected 335 bags of blankets and warm outer wear,” said CADREB president Steve Lerigny. “Approximately 15 boxes of food were collected, and some of that was distributed to those in need right at the collection point – what an awesome way to see giving and receiving.”
Most of the donations go to Ruth and Naomi’s (RAN) Mission and Cyrus Centre in Chilliwack, plus Agassiz Harrison Community Services and Hope Community Services.
“We want to thank the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board in a big way for once again holding the Blanket and Winter Clothing drive this year,” said RAN Executive Assistant Cheryl Giesbrecht. “Ruth and Naomi’s Mission relies heavily on the items that come in during this annual event. Thank you to the community for supporting RAN Mission in such a valuable way.”
