The Chilliwack Fair is back.
After going virtual in 2020, the annual event goes live this weekend (Aug. 6-8) at Heritage Park, making it the first, large-scale, in-person event to return to Chilliwack since the COVID pandemic first hit last spring.
It’s the 149th year for the fair, which dates all the way back to 1873.
“We’re working to create a safe fair experience that incorporates all of your favourite activities in an in-person environment,” read an announcement from Chilliwack Fair organizers in mid-June. “Our theme will be ‘Stirrup Some Fun,’ as we could all use some fun this summer!”
This year’s event will be slightly scaled back from previous editions held during ‘normal’ times, but the schedule promises lots of entertainment options for all ages.
Live music returns to the outdoor stage featuring local bands like Judy Tuesday (7 p.m. Aug. 6) and Head over Heels (8:30 p.m. Aug. 6). Kadooh and Todd Richard are also on the schedule, along with the magic of Gary Savard, acoustic performers and more.
The full schedule can be found online at chilliwackfair.com/event-schedule/
With a focus on local vendors and artisans, the Chilliwack Fair will have a market and farm store, supported by BuyBC.
Chilliwack Fair organizers are also taking time to honour a pair of longtime supporters, 94-year-old rodeo volunteer Tom Lambon and Home and Garden Barn coordinator Louise Pollock.
