There are a few new additions at the maternity at Chilliwack General Hospital.

They ward is now home to more than $27,000 in new equipment, thanks to the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF).

“We are so happy with the gift of new equipment from the foundation” shared the Patient Care Coordinator, Rejeanne McLean. “The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation has always been an ideal partner in the care of our department”

“Beyond the vital sign monitors for mom, fetal monitors for baby, doptones to listen to fetal heart rates and other equipment, we are happy to provide baby friendly equipment to promote breastfeeding.” explained Liz Harris, Executive Director of FVHCF. “Maternity at CGH has been equipped with new breast pumps, kits, small fridges for patient rooms and a small freezer to store donor breast milk from the BC Women’s Milk Bank. The wellbeing of both mom and baby is always a priority with us.”

A portion of the funds used for this equipment was raised through the annual Run for Mom, a Mother’s Day weekend fundraiser hosted by the FVHCF. Registration for the 2020 Run for Mom is now open for early registrants at www.fvhcf.ca/events.

If you would like to help support the maternity department at CGH you can do so by contacting the FVHCF at 1-877-661-0314 or online at www.fvhcf.ca.

The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation raises funds for vital equipment and programs funded or endorsed by Fraser Health. They serve the communities of Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope, Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs.
