There are signs that gas pumps are beginning to run dry in Chilliwack.
Driving from Five Corners to the Chilliwack Mall, several gas stations are still going strong, but others have shut off their price boards and pumps.
At Yale and Hocking, the Shell station has cars lined up to fill their tanks, but right across the street, the Esso station is empty of cars.
Once you get to Vedder and Luckakuck, the busiest intersection in the city, two of three gas stations have shut their pumps.
While the food store at the Shell remains open, their pumps are surrounded by yellow tape.
Across the street, the Esso Travel Centre is still selling, with cars lined up five or six deep.
The Petro Canada near Staples and Winners has also shut off their price sign and pumps.
The run on gas started Tuesday (Nov. 16) morning, with motorists fearing that the closure of Highway 1 at Abbotsford would prevent supplies from getting through. Many local gas stations get their supply from Burnaby.
