Thieves really will steal anything, and in the past few weeks they’ve even added disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer to the list.
The Upper Fraser Valley RCMP report that “as the region practises safety during the global health crisis, thieves watch for the opportunity to steal,” Cpl. Mike Rail said Thursday.
“Most recently (they) have added disinfectant wipes as well as hand sanitizers to the list of items such as wallets, electronics, and purses reported stolen from vehicles to police.”
Since April is Auto Crime Enforcement Month, they are also reminding drivers to ‘T.H.I.N.K.’ of protecting property inside vehicles from thieves.
“Our front line officers continue to conduct proactive patrols throughout the region,” says Rail. “Prevention of auto crime requires police and the public working together.”
The RCMP encourages vehicle owners to:
T – Take your valuables, or
H- Hide valuables out of plain sight
I – Immobilize your vehicle
N-Never idle unattended
K- Key Security (keep track of your keys)
