District of Hope flushing sewer lines next week

Pressure from the flushing could cause backflow into residential toilets

The District of Hope says sewer line flushing will be happening next week at various locations, including Thacker Mountain and East Kawkawa Lake.

The work is being done May 30 to June 3 and the District warns it could lead to messy situations.

“Please be advised that this flushing may result in pressure that may cause backflow through the sewer service connection to individual properties and out of the toilet,” a notice reads.

The suggested solution?

The District recommends keeping your toilet seat closed, and putting something heavy on top of that closed toilet seat to keep it from flying open.

Anyone with concerns is asked to contact the District’s Chief Utilities Operator, Steve Glasson, by phone at 604-869-2333.
