A downtown Hope business is selling mugs for charity, commemorating one of the worst years in recent memory.
Erica Press has created ‘BC Strong’ mugs, celebrating the province’s resilience with the tagline ‘Through Hell & High Water.’
The tagline is of course a callback to last November’s flooding and last summer’s devastating wildfires, and proceeds from the mug sales are being directed to a group that helped out so much during those challenging times.
“Proceeds from this batch is going to Hope Search and Rescue, the men and women who help the community when we have fires and floods, which we all had last year,” said Erica Press owner Eric de Meulder.
This is the second time Erica Press has done this. The first time, they raised $584 for the District of Hope Fire Department.
As de Meulder explained the fundraiser, a customer grabbed one of the shelf.
“I feel awesome about contributing to a good cause,” said Gloria Rainkie. “And this is a great idea because it’s something that you can use.”
The mugs are priced at $15 each and are available in 11 and 12 ounce sizes, in white or a variety of colors.
The business is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
