An early morning car fire in Harrison is connected to a break-and-enter at Muddy Waters Cafe Monday, police say.

According to Sgt. Mike Sargent, a two people broke into Muddy Waters Cafe on Esplanade Avenue around 3:38 a.m. Monday morning (Sept. 9). The pair stole a car from an underground parking lot at the cafe.

Around that same time, Driftwood Avenue resident Maria Gorelova was woken up by her dog barking and growling. In a Facebook post, she said she heard doors opening and closing, then at 4:15 a.m. a car was on fire across the street.

Sargent said that car is believed to be the same one that was stolen during the break and enter.

Police are currently investigating the situation. The two suspects, a man and a woman, are still at large.

Although RCMP don’t know yet exactly what was taken from Muddy Waters, Sargent said it looked like the pair were targeting food.
