Organizations and schools in the Chilliwack and Hope areas that are celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee might be eligible for up to $5,000 in event funding.
Chilliwack-Hope MP Mark Strahl is inviting local organizations to apply for funding for community-based projects and celebrations in honour of the 70-year reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
“This year, we are celebrating Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, which marks 70 years of her steadfast service to Canada and the Commonwealth,” Strahl said. “I am pleased to invite community organizations to apply for funding to commemorate this historic and remarkable milestone of seven decades of achievement.”
Projects or events must be held in Canada between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2022, free of charge and open to the general public.
Some examples of events could include concerts, art exhibitions, parades or tree plantings.
The program will support projects that:
• Mark the 70th anniversary of the reign of Her Majesty The Queen
• Offer Canadians an opportunity to learn about our history and symbols, particularly in relation to the role of the Crown in Canada
• Highlight how Canada has evolved over the past 70 years under Her Majesty’s reign and look to the future of our nation
• Commemorate the long-standing relationship between the Crown and Indigenous Peoples
