A fire has started in a farmer’s field in the small community of Laidlaw.

Photos are being shared online from those in the area, and it is reported to be in a blueberry field on McKay Road.

Laidlaw is between Chilliwack and Hope on Highway 1.

There are now aircraft dropping both water and fire retardant on the fire, according to witnesses in the area. A helicopter is dropping water and airplanes are dropping the retardant. It is unclear yet which firehalls have responded to the fire on the ground.

More to come.
