A house fire was quickly doused by Hope fire crews Thursday night.

Still, the flames tore through the roof of the home, at the far end of Old Yale Road. Witnesses have reported that the residents and pets in carriers were able to get out of the home. There are at least two suites in the home.

Hope Fire Chief Tom DeSorcy says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
