High water levels prompt evacuation alert for properties along the Fraser River

Mission’s gauge read 5.52 metres at 10:18 a.m. this morning, June 25

High water levels measured on Mission’s gauge have prompted an evacuation alert for properties unprotected by dikes along the Fraser River.

Just after 10 a.m., the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) issued an evacuation alert to the lands north of Harrison Mills and the lands surrounding Nicomen Island. Mission’s gauge measured at 5.52 metres at 10:18 a.m.

“Everyone in the affected areas should be ready to move quickly from the area if required,” reads a social media post from the FVRD.

Twenty units in Tapadera Estates on 14600 Morris Valley Road, 9 properties at Beach Camp Road, and all the units at Harrison Bay Resort and RV Park located at 44562 Lougheed Highway will receive the evacuation alert.

A total of 18 properties will receive an alert on lands surrounding Nicomen Island, including areas around North Nicomen and Taylor roads.

The evacuation alerts are hand delivered door-to-door by FVRD staff.

Anyone needing assistance can call the Emergency Operations Centre at 604-798-5369.
