Retrospective 13 is the latest show to grace the walls of the Back Room Gallery at the Hope Arts Gallery (349 Fort Street).

The show opens March 2 and continues through March 27.

According to a Hope Arts Gallery news release, Retrospective 13 features works of art initiated during courses and studio time over the past year, and it will have an interactive component.

“Because we want folks to see the process in learning to use paper for card making, clay for sculpture, or water colours and acrylics for painting, this year we will be featuring exercises as well as finished products,” the news release states. “Learning should be fun and we encourage curiosity and the willingness to play and let go of rigid expectations.

“If you have ever wanted to try card making, ceramic sculpture or painting, come see our show and check out the opportunities awaiting you at the Art Machine.”

Both the Visual Arts Studio A and the Pottery Studio B were closed due to COVID-19 restrictions for much of 2021, with many courses limited in numbers of participants and in length.

However, the Art Machine is fully open for business and looking forward to a productive 2022.

Retrospective 13 opens in the Back Room Gallery, running from March 2 to 27.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and admission is free.

The Hope Arts Gallery operates under the umbrella of the Hope District Arts Council and is run by volunteers.
