Movie lovers were concerned to see a CLOSED sign go up on the marqee of the Hope Cinema.

The historic theatre has recently seen a resurgence of activity with new owners bringing in specials, themed viewings and events like wrestling.

But not to worry, owners said Monday morning. They confirmed with The Standard that they are only closed for a short time for a movie shoot.

They couldn’t disclose any details about the filming taking place inside the theatre, and asked that the public not disturb the film crew while they are on site. Several films have been filmed in Hope in recent years, including Antlers and A Dog’s Way Home.

Business will be back to normal on Tuesday, when they plan to screen Dumbledore, the latest Harry Potter series film.
