Hope man charged in fatal motorcycle crash

70-year-old man killed Sunday in Harrison

A 62-year-old man from Hope is facing two impaired driving charges after a fatal motorcycle crash on Sunday in Harrison Hot Springs.

His 1990 Mercury Sable struck a 70-year-old motorcyclist from Agassiz on Hot Springs Road at about 4 p.m.

“Police, fire and ambulance attended the crash as soon as they were called, but unfortunately the motorcycle operator was deceased at the scene,” said RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks, acting spokesperson for the Lower Mainland District Regional Police Service. “Our thanks to the people who were near the collision when it occurred, and who tried what they could to save this man,” added Marks.

The Hope driver was not injured in the crash, but police said he blew twice over the legal limit.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.
