VIDEO: House in downtown Hope destroyed by fire

No residents injured as firefighters work on blaze

A house on Third Avenue in Hope has been destroyed by fire.

The fire started at about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2 and was quickly attacked by Hope firefighters. Witnesses at the scene said that it seemed like everyone from the house was able to escape, although they were concerned about a dog not making it out.

One woman said she was driving by and saw the flames. She stopped and ran to the house to bang on the windows and yell ‘fire.’

Residents in a neighbouring house heard the commotion and also were able to evacuate.

Firefighters had to work around electrical sparks that were flying in the driveway as they worked to contain flames in a bordering hedge.
