A burned-out vehicle originally taken to a Burnaby tow yard is now part of a homicide investigation after human remains were found inside earlier this week.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said in a news release that the vehicle was located on fire late on July 22, but the damage was so severe investigators weren’t able to fully examine the inside of the vehicle until Wednesday (July 29).
Investigators could be seen at the scene of a tow yard in the 5000-block of Thorne Avenue.
Based on the investigation thus far, police do not consider the incident to be a random act and said that there is no danger to the general public.
BC Coroners Service is also conducting a separate probe into identifying the body.
Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4447 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
