A residential property in Hope is up for rezoning, and that means there will be a public hearing coming up.

The property is at 538 3rd Ave., and the owners are hoping to subdivide it into two lots. The 427.5 m2 western portion of the property would change from single family residential (RS-1) to Compact Single Family Residential (RS-2).

The property currently has a modest, tidy bungalow and large yard and parking areas. It is a large corner lot with back alley access, about double the size of the other 10 lots on the block. In a report to council on June 13, staff said the owners intend to keep the current home as is. However, a garage on the lot will need to be demolished to build a second home.

The rezoning would fit in the Official Community Plan.

The public hearing will be held on July 11 at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers. For more on the process, visit hope.ca and search under documents.
