The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation and were able to identify 31-year-old Justin Wareing as the primary suspect.

On June 8, 2023, a second-degree murder charge was officially laid against Wareing, with the case now going before the courts.

IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti called this charge a cooperative effort, praising the efforts of the Ridge Meadows RCMP and other RCMP teams.

“We’re thankful for the support we receive every day from all of the integrated teams,” said Pierotti.
