A second public gathering opposing racism is being held in Hope Saturday (June 20.)

Organizers are inviting people to join a ‘peaceful walk against racism’, starting 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hope Recreation Centre. The march will head downtown, staying on the sidewalks organizers instructed, ending up at the Memorial Park bandstand.

“Bring banners, posters or flags with your message against racism,” organizers urged. “Due to the continuing pandemic, please wear a mask and keep your physical distance from others.”

People across the world have come together in protest after an African American man, George Floyd, died while being arrested by Minneapolis police officers who are now facing felony charges. A march June 5 in Chilliwack brought hundreds of people to the streets and a rally with around 30 participants was held in Hope June 6.
