Joining SD78’s new incoming superintendent Balan Moorthy is a new assistant superintendent, Renge Bailie.
The Fraser Cascade School District announced June 3 that Bailie had been appointed to the role, after an open competition where candidates were reviewed by the school board with input from education partner groups.
Bailie is currently the district principal of student support services at the Langley School District (SD35). She will take over from current assistant superintendent Kevin Bird, who superintendent Karen Nelson said is “moving on (and) pursuing other opportunities.”
Bailie comes to the position with a Bachelor and Masters of Education from UBC, as well as 13 years of experience in school and district administration in Langley. She has experience teaching in two districts.
“Relationships, building community and providing safe, welcoming and inclusive schools for all students are my passions,” she noted in a June 3 news release.
Nelson said the extensive knowledge and expertise Bailie brings are well-recognized by herself, the board and incoming superintendent Balan Moorthy. “Her passion, personal qualities and skillset will continue to support the vision of School District 78,” Nelson stated.
Both Moorthy and Bailie will assume their new roles on August 1.
