Fraser Health has reported two new exposure events in Fraser-Cascade School District 78.

Agassiz Elementary Secondary School now has two active exposure events – Oct. 27 and 28 and now Nov. 1 to 3. Hope Secondary School also has an exposure event between Nov. 1 and 3. There are five active exposures within the district, and there has been a total of 10 exposure events so far this school year.

Of the 10 exposure events in the 2021-22 school year, eight have been in Agassiz schools.

An exposure means someone who hast tested positive for COVID-19 attended school during the listed dates. While an exposure is a health concern, it is not as severe as an outbreak. An outbreak is declared when evidence of transmission of COVID-19 has been discovered between the individual who tested positive and at least one other person.

There have been no outbreaks within the school district this year.

Attending school during the dates of an exposure event does not necessarily mean your child now has COVID-19. If there is any action necessary, Fraser Health will contact the affected families directly.

Fraser Health’s recommendations from last year are unchanged – those who are able to and do not have COVID-19 symptoms should continue to attend school.
