UPDATE: Abbotsford stabbing victim is a 37-year-old man, police confirm

Abbotsford Police says Major Crime Unit is taking over file, and suspect is in custody

One person is in hospital after being stabbed in an Abbotsford home Thursday afternoon.

The Abbotsford Police Department has confirmed that a suspect is being held in custody, and the stabbing victim is in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The incident took place at a home within the 2900-block of Lefeuvre Road near Fraser Highway, with a 911 call coming in at 12:42 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a 37-year-old man suffering from stab wounds.

Emergency medical care was provided, and the victim was taken to hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A 45-year-old man was identified and arrested as the suspect at the scene and is currently in police custody.

The event caused a temporary closure of Lefeuvre and heavy traffic volume. Many witnesses in the area noted a heavy police presence, which consisted of APD officers, the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), and the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service (IPDS).

The investigation has been taken over by the APD’s Major Crime Unit supported by the Forensic Identification Section (FIS). Investigators are in the preliminary stages of this investigation. The scene is now secure, and Lefeuvre Road has reopened. There is no further risk to the public as this was an isolated incident to a residence in the area.
