No injuries were reported during a police incident on Seabird Island early Saturday morning that put one man in custody after complaints he allegedly shot at one of the residences in the Qualq Road area.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Mike Sargent said a complaint came in at about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday of a man carrying firearms and a knife on Qualq Road. At one point, the suspect – a 32-year-old male – allegedly shot at a home and fled the scene. Seabird Island officials issued a warning for residents to stay indoors via their Facebook page.

The firearms in question were located and found to be a BB gun and a pellet gun. Sargent said there were no injuries reported during the incident and there is no risk to the public as the suspect remains in custody.

“The Agassiz RCMP would like to thank the Seabird Island community for their assistance in locating the individual,” Sargent wrote in a brief statement.
