Chilliwack RCMP are investigating two incidents of shots fired near downtown Chilliwack the evening of Thursday (Nov. 4).
No one was injured but RCMP are asking the public for any information, dash-cam footage or surveillance footage that could help investigators identify suspects.
“The Chilliwack RCMP are asking people who reside in the downtown area of the city to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity,” said Sgt. Krista Vrolyk, media spokesperson for Chilliwack RCMP.
The first report of shots fired from Young Road and Yates Avenue came in at 7:15 p.m., and then at about 10:15 p.m. a second report of shots fired, this time from the area around Tupper Street and Henderson Avenue.
Evidence at both scenes showed that a firearm had been discharged, but the incident at Young and Yates had evidence of discharge into a residence, Vrolyk said.
“At this very early stage in the investigation, RCMP do not believe that the occupants of this specific residence were intentionally targeted.”
They‘re working to identify suspects and determine a motive.
“Investigators are conducting a canvas of neighbours in the area and are gathering evidence to determine if the two incidents are related.”
