One in custody after search of Jones Lake area

Hope Search and Rescue assisted RCMP in search for man previously known to police

One man is in custody after Hope Volunteer Search and Rescue spent Friday night and Saturday morning assisting RCMP in a search of the Jones Lake area.

At 4:50 p.m. July 20 Hope search crews started looking for a missing person who was originally said to be located off of Highway 7, in the Garnet Creek area. The search was later moved to the Jones Lake area, after RCMP provided searchers with GPS coordinates.

At 1 a.m. the search was called off for the night until it resumed at 6 a.m. July 21. Mario Levesque, search manager, confirmed at 11:30 a.m. the search has been called off.

Cpl. Darryl Peppler with the Hope RCMP confirmed the individual, a male with a history of mental health-related files, was in custody as of July 21. He was brought in and held for court for unendorsed warrants out for his arrest.
