UPDATE: Second wildfire in Spuzzum area quickly extinguished

First fire on July 27 was quickly extinguished

A small wildfire – the second in three days – started and was quickly extinguished in the Spuzzum area north of Hope.

B.C. Wildfire Service reported a small wildfire in the Sailor Bar Tunnel area, discovered on Thursday (July 29). The first, quickly-doused wildfire was discovered on Tuesday (July 27) in the Skeemis Creek area.

The suspected cause of both fires is currently listed as unknown.

There are currenly 246 active wildfires in the province, and much of southern B.C. remains under extreme or high fire danger. There have been 1,250 wildfires in B.C. in 2021.
