Chilliwack RCMP are asking the public to share any video footage taken of a violent altercation at a Yale Road apartment complex that ended with one man being tasered and taken in custody.

A complaint was phoned in to RCMP last week about a group of six men who were refusing to leave a unit in the building located in the 46000-block of Yale Road, and were allegedly selling drugs.

“During the investigation, the suspect they were speaking to became agitated and repeatedly punched the officer,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail.

A Taser device was deployed, and the suspect was arrested. As per the protocol, the suspect and the officers were then transported to hospital, examined and released.

One man, 27, was taken into custody, Rail said.

The call came into RCMP about 9:15 a.m. on July 18. Investigating officers are now seeking any witnesses who may have taken video footage of the altercation, and asking them to contact the RCMP at 604-792-4611.

“We are urging them to contact us,” Rail said.
