Tourism Hope Cascades and Canyons continues to rack up recognition for the work they do.

The latest honour bestowed upon the small and dedicated team is finalist status for the BC Tourism Industry and Hospitality Conference’s ‘BC Destination Marketing Organization Professional Excellence Award.’

According to the BC Tourism and Hospitality Conference website, the award “recognizes a community DMO (Destination Marketing Organization) for their demonstration of leadership, innovation, accountability to and collaboration with the tourism industry in British Columbia. This DMO is a proven leader, an example of professionalism and best practices and has provided measurable value to the local and provincial tourism industry.”

Tourism Hope Cascades and Canyons executive director Shannon Jones called it “an amazing accomplishment for our organization,” because the award is open to any tourism organization in the entire province.

“We are so honored to be recognized as a finalist for such an amazing award,” she said. “Though it is Tourism Hope Cascades and Canyons that has been nominated, these past two years have been a collaborative effort. I feel so fortunate to work alongside our tourism industry colleagues who came together and supported each other through very difficult times helping to make it possible for Destination Marketing Organizations like HCC to strive.

“Sarah Brown, Brian McKinney, Tracy Paynter and Connect Media, thank you for always putting everything you have into making Hope Cascades and Canyons shine.”

In addition, the local team is part of a larger group that is a finalist for the Community Contribution and Impact Award.

The Fraser Valley Group includes Tourism Hope Cascades and Canyons along with teams representing Langley, Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Agassiz and Harrison.

According to the BC Tourism and Hospitality Conference website, the award “recognizes an individual, organization or consortium that has demonstrated social responsibility through efforts to enhance social and cultural impact, help foster collaboration, and build resiliency in the community.”

Jones said her group is proud to collaborate with the other groups in The Fraser Valley Group.

“This is a group of individuals who put every ounce of themselves into supporting our communities as a whole, with kindness and consideration for our residents and visitors in everything they do,” she said.

Awards will be presented March 10 at a gala at the Richmond Conference Centre.
