Two Hope men charged with wire theft

Police arrived to discover the two men stripping wire from its casing in the front driveway of a home in the 600 block of Willow street, Wednesday afternoon, March 9.

A report from the public of suspicious activity ended in two Hope men being charged with theft.

Police arrived to discover the two men stripping wire from its casing in the front driveway of a home in the 600 block of Willow street, Wednesday afternoon, March 9.

“This is something that has been an ongoing problem in the upper Fraser Valley region and now two more men have been arrested and charged with theft,” said Cst. Tracy Wolbeck, media relations officer for the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP.

“These types of crimes can have far reaching implications for the community. It’s possible that phone lines could be interrupted, limiting access to 911,” added Wolbeck.

The names of the two men, both in their 40’s, were not released by police.
