UPDATE: Two men identified in Hope murder-suicide

IHIT spent two days investigating the deaths at the Othello Road home

IHIT investigators were still on scene Monday morning in the 69100 block of Othello Road following a double homicide in Hope on Sunday.



The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has confirmed the identities of two men involved in a Hope shooting.

Twenty-six-year-old Alec Lamb and 29-year-old Tylor Insley were found dead inside a home in the 69100 block of Othello Road just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Crime scene investigators spent two days on the property, which can be seen from the Coquihalla Highway near exit 183. Police initially believed the deaths were a double homicide, but further evaluation by IHIT, the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment, and the Lower Mainland District Integrated Forensic Identification Section confirmed the case was a murder-suicide.

“We know that within smaller communities an incident such as this can instill a great deal of fear in the public,” said Sgt. Jennifer Pound. “IHIT would like to ensure the public that this was not a random attack, but a targeted shooting between two males that were known to each other.”

Police continue to investigate the details that led to the homicide and the motive for this shooting.
