UPDATE: Wildfire burning east of Harrison Lake now under control

Update Tuesday, April 4:

A wildfire burning east of Harrison Lake is now under control, according to BC Wildfire Service.

On Saturday, April 1, the 14.6-hectare fire went from “out of control” to “being held.”

Update Saturday, April 1, 2:45 p.m.:

The wildfire east of Harrison Lake has been downgraded to “being held” after being classified earlier as “out of control,” according to BC Wildfire Service.

Saturday, April 1, 9:15 a.m.:

A wildfire east of Harrison Lake has gotten larger and is now classified as “out of control.”

The fire located northeast of Sasquatch Park was an estimated 12 hectares on Friday, March 31 and as of Saturday morning (April 1) it had increased to 14.6 hectares.

A wildfire is burning near Sasquatch Park, east of Harrison Lake.

The estimated 12-hectare fire was ignited on Thursday, March 30 yet the cause is unknown, according to BC Wildfire Service.

It is located about five kilometres northwest of Ruby Creek, northeast of Deer Lake and Sasquatch Park.

As of Friday, March 31, the ‘stage of control’ classification for the fire was ‘new.’ Other classifications include out of control, being held, under control and out.

According to B.C. Wildfire Service on March 31, seven new wildfires were ignited in the last two days.
