Agatha Kathleen WILSON

December 12, 2007

Wilson, Agatha Kathleen

Agatha Kathleen (Kay) Wilson (nee Friesen) was born December 12, 1914 and was reunited with her beloved Howard on Valentines Day, February 14, 2007 when she passed away.

Mom was also predeceased by her two grandchildren Michelle and Michael Wilson, her parents, her sister Marie, brothers Neil, Johnny, Joe and Nick.

She is survived by her loving family: son Douglas (Bev) and grandchildren Keith (Samantha), Terri Anne, and Ryan Wilson; son Kenneth (Donna) and grandchildren Charlene (John) Wallace, Jeff (Kim) and Richelle (Mike). She is also survived by four beautiful great grandaughters and her sister, Margaret Stanfield, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was born in Ravenscraig, Saskatchewan and moved to Chilliwack as a young woman. It was here that she met Howard, the love of her life. Kay and Howard were married in 1939 and started their married life in Boston Bar. They moved to North Bend in 1940 on the day the aerial ferry started operation. Howard worked as a shoemaker, a custodian for the school district and laterally for CP Rail. Kay always kept the home fires burning and was well known for her delicious pies, buns and cookies.

We have many fond memories of our summer vacations. Since Dad had pass privileges with the railway, we were able to enjoy many trips to the Prairies, Eastern Canada and the United States. Our family always had time for some of the special things in life such as wiener roasts. Dad's pride and joy, his 1926 Model T Ford, took us on many memorable drives to the Allen farm, the TP café at Styoma Creek and the Alexandra Bridge Campsite. On our train trips, Mom always made certain her family was well fed by packing tasty boxed lunches. We remember our greatly anticipated monthly family trips on the train to Vancouver to stock up on groceries and see a movie. Mom had a great love of music and played the accordian, harp, piano and mandolin. Mom was very active in both the United Church at North Bend and the Baptist Church at Boston Bar, playing the piano at both.

In 1985 Mom and Dad moved from North Bend to Boston Bar and remained there until 1990 when they moved to Chilliwack. Howard passed away in 1996. In 2002 Kay moved in with Ken and Donna where she received tender, loving care. At the time of her passing, she was a resident at Heritage Village in Chilliwack. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage for the wonderful care they gave Mom while she lived there.

A family gathering will be held later in the spring when we will put Mom's ashes to rest alongside Dad at the Little Mountain cemetery in Chilliwack. We know Mom would wish us to express her oft-repeated words - "She never had it so good."
