SPRINGMAN, Archie
Much to the sadness of his wife, Daryl, and sons, Shane and Blake, we announce the passing of Archie Springman of Abbotsford on April 13, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed by a large family including his brothers, Dan (David), Surrey, BC and Rueben (Debbie), Abbotsford, BC, sisters Carol (Gerald) Reid, Hope, BC, Phyllis (Pat) McInnes,Hope, BC and Joanie (Bruce), Sanderson, Port McNeill, BC. Archie was born at Melfort, SK, on Oct. 22, 1946. He grew up working hard on the family farm and got into all sorts of shenanigans in Nipawin, SK, which was the family's home for many years. The Springman family moved to Hope, BC in 1968 where he and his father eventually ventured into business by starting Springman's Auto Body. Archie and his young family relocated to Abbotsford in 1992. He was a devoted family man and a respected community member, participating in the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and serving as an auxiliary member of the RCMP. His interest in business led to various partnerships, including Springman's Auto Body with his brother-in-law and a car dealership in Langley with his brothers. His last business venture was Cottonwood RV at Chilliwack. Archie loved camping and was always happy to pack his wife and kids up and to hit the road with a trailer in tow. His favourite spot to camp was at Dry Lake, where many fond memories were made. His passion for collector cars led to frequent revving up the engines, burning a little rubber and enjoying car shows with his sons. He was renowned for his witty sayings (which his family lovingly refers to as "Archie-isms"), his master storytelling abilities, his integrity and his rollicking laughter. His keen sense of humor never waned throughout his struggle with cancer. A celebration of Archie's life will be held on Thursday, April 25th at 2:00 pm at South Abbotsford Church, 32424 Huntingdon Rd., Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations to BC SPCA or SAINTS Mission gratefully accepted.
