December 12, 1937 - September 10, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Art Coghill. He went peacefully on September 10th.
Art was 82 years old and was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Art, along with his mom and dad, moved to Bralorne BC, where his little brother Bobby was born. As a young boy growing up in Bralorne, Art enjoyed all of the outdoor activities such as skiing, skating, hiking, fishing and camping. He had lots of great stories about growing up there as he loved the outdoors.
His father worked at the mine where later Art started working as well, apprenticing for his dad as a heavy-duty mechanic. He moved to Sooke where he met and married his wife Maureen in 1963. They bought a small house and raised their three children; Colleen, Wendy and Mike there. In 1971 they moved to Hope, BC where Art worked for Giant Mascot Mines, G&F Logging and then for BC Forest Products in Boston Bar, as a heavy-duty mechanic and then later as a millwright. He coached girls' and boys' softball teams as well as played the bass drum for the Legion pipe band. Art and Maureen bought motorcycles and enjoyed a few road trips together.
Art liked spending time with his grandchildren and leaves them behind: Jamie (Bj), Andrew, Paige, Tyson, Kaine and Talon as well as his children Colleen, Wendy (Jay) and Mike (Echo). He was predeceased by his brother Bobby, father Art, mother Winnie, wife Maureen, son in law Les Roebuck and son in law Phil Gagne.
We want to thank the incredible staff team of "Angels" at the Fraser Hope Lodge for your love, care, kindness and compassion. You truly are family and thank you for going above and beyond and sharing your stories of Dad.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Auxiliary to the Fraser Canyon Hospital/Fraser Hope Lodge.
Art will be dearly missed! Together again with his wife, Maureen in Heaven. No longer by our side, but forever in our hearts....Huge hugs and kisses until we meet again.
