Barbara Greenshields passed away February 26, 2009 at the Fraser Hope Lodge in Hope B.C., at the age of 76. Barbara was born in Stony Mountain, Manitoba on August 9, 1932 to John and Evelyn Nelson. She was one of 13 children.

Barbara is survived by her children Sandra (Vic), Gayle, and Bob. grandchildren Norman, Jason, Cree, Ryan and Robert; and great grand daughter Ashlee. She is also survived by sisters; Muriel, Audrey and Beverly, and brothers; Robert and Kenny.

She was predeceased by her Mom and Dad, husband; Robert Greenshields, sisters; Shirley and Gerry, brothers; Buster, Allen, Lloyd, Barry and Norman, grandson; Justin and her dog Tits.

Barbara was born with asthma and so she was sick most of her life but she was a fighter. She spent most of her life in Penticton, B.C. where she raised her children by herself. Barbara loved to play cribbage, read, do crossword puzzles, watch T.V. and hang around the mall with her sister Bev, where they made many new friends. Barbara also enjoyed touring the city of Penticton with the transit system. She also belonged to the Legion and the Elks, where she liked to have a beer or two or three.

Barbara spent nearly the last two years of her life living at the Fraser Hope Lodge where she made a lot of new friends, including her newest best companion Molly.

We are going to have a Celebration of Life at a later date. Donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Thank you to Dr. Greggain for the excellent care he gave Mom.
