With heavy hearts the Rychter family announces the passing of a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Barbara passed away at the age of 63 on Tuesday September 24th, 2019 in the company of her family at Fraser Canyon Hospice in Hope, BC. She is survived by her husband George, sisters Bonney and Gloria, children Sam (Gord), Hedy (Joe) and grandchildren Jacob and Ellie. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the many kind and expert staff of the Fraser Health Authority who showed Barb and our family so much compassion over this last year.
Barbara was born in Vancouver and moved to the Agassiz-Harrison Hot Springs area in her teen years and this is where and when she met the love of her life, George. Barbara graduated from Agassiz Senior Secondary School in 1974 and married George that same summer and moved to the United Kingdom with him for a few years before returning to the local area. She attended UCFV and obtained certification as a medical office assistant; for decades she worked for several doctors in the community of Hope. She will be remembered as an incredibly hard worker as this was in addition to managing several hospitality businesses the Rychter family locally owned and operated from 1976-2016.
Barb will be remembered as an avid reader, sewer, as an amazing and adventurous cook, as someone who taught her children empathy, kindness and compassion and most of all for her relentless dedication to family.
Private arrangements for immediate family were held Oct 1, 2019 at Henderson's (Chilliwack) and Forest Lawn (Burnaby). A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
