ALBERT, Catherine

August 9, 1910 - January 6, 2008

Our beloved Ma, Gramma, Granny passed away quietly and suddenly where she resided with her granddaughter on Sumas reserve.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Marie Martin; husbands, Billy Albert, Charles Real; sister Lucy; daughter Anna Point; granddaughter Kathleen Peters and great granddaughter Angela Kelly. She is survived by her son Dave Albert (Delia), 4 granddaughters, Virginia, Maureen (John), Daphane (Ken), Rachel (Steve), 3 grandsons; Bob (Delores), Mathew and Fleming (Teresa).

Catherine lived a very healthy, active life of 97 years. She was born in Kitseum Boothroyd where she was brought up by her father of whom she told many stories about. Married Billy Albert of Shackan Band and became a mother of 3 children, Danny, Anna and David whom she loved dearly.

She met Charlie a CNR railroad worker and lived a lot of years following where ever his work took him, finally retiring down in Hope. They spent many years together in Silver Creek, Hope before he passed on. She lived on her own for many years being independent working in her garden. She liked to walk (a lot) especially after she got her walker. Actually she got reported to the police once because she was getting her exercise doing loops and part of the loop ran along the highway. They were concerned she might be in danger.

Another story, Homecare Workers took out the fuses on her stove (because she fell asleep with the stove on) that of course did not stop her, when they went to town to do laundry she'd scoot down to the hardware store and buy some more. They would return the next day to find someone had been cooking and they were looking puzzled, as she sat there with a smug smile. She was a very humorous and good natured person.

Charlie and Catherine are now together in Mountain View Cemetery in Hope. Many treasured memories were made at her little house in Silver Creek
