November 4, 1942 - July 4, 2021
It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of our mother, Donna Louise Wittig. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Donna was born in Dawson Creek, BC. She moved to Hope in 1966. She worked in the logging camp in Hope as a cook, where she met Gordon. She worked for the Hope post office for many years as well and at the Coquihalla Campsite.
She was always involved with her children and could often be found at the ballpark or the hockey rink cheering everyone on. Donna was an avid gardener as evidenced by her beautiful yard. She had a huge collection of frogs many of them hiding in her garden and carport. Her celebrity idol, Elvis, could be seen throughout her home. After retirement she loved to travel with Gordon on cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. Her favourite trips were to Barbados.
Donna was predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Ted Dunn and by her husband, Gordon in 2011. She continued to live at Crystal River Court with her grandson, Aaron.
She is survived by her children: Ken (Gretchen), Tanis (Tom), Tammy (Al), Melvin (Sandy) and Cary (Trish) as well as Kim Martin, Uncle Tom Beggs and niece Pam (Eric). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren.
Donna will be sadly missed by all her friends and neighbours in Crystal River Court, especially Madge and Joe; Audrey and Bob; Danine, Jessica and Alysia.
Special thanks to Dr. Shultz, Dr. Darby and Dr. Whalley and the Hope Palliative Care Home Health team, who enabled us to keep Donna at home. There will be no funeral as per Donna's request. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
Donations can be made in Donna's memory to the Fraser Canyon Hospice Society and directed to the Hospice Rest Area.
