NEWMAN, Florence Mary. Florence Mary Newman, born December 28, 1919, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2013 at the age of 93. Mom grew up on the farm her parents homesteaded in Sullivan, Surrey, BC. Mary was predeceased by her husband Eric in 1997. She is sadly missed by her daughter Alice and her husband Roland, her son Ken and his wife Anne, 5 granddaughters; Sandra (Tim), Beverley (Scott), Treena, Janice, and Kara (Steve), 8 great-grandchildren; Frank, Steve, William, James, Eric, Rian, Deklan, and Schuyler. As an Air Force wife, Mom supported Dad in his career and they were stationed in various bases in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. After their retirement Mom and Dad settled in Hope, BC. They loved to travel in their trailer and the Cessna all over BC. A few years after Dad's passing Mom moved to Penticton and spent her last few years living in Concorde Place. She loved watching the planes take off and her Sunday drives with an ice cream stop at Tickleberries or Summerland Sweets. A celebration of Mom's life will be held in the spring.
