Glen Mitchell

(1927 – 2017)

On January 9, 2017, Glen passed away peacefully following a brief stay at the Fraser Canyon Hospital. Glen was born May 20, 1927 on the family farm in Douglas, Manitoba. As a young man, he settled in the Kootneys where he met his future wife, June. They moved to lakefront property at Christina Lake where their four daughters were born. In 1968, Glen relocated his business, A. G. Mitchell Contracting, to Hope. Nothing made Glen happier than being surrounded by family. His grandchildren all agree that some of their most cherished memories are from summer and Christmas gatherings at “Grandad’s”. Glen was a hard worker and admired that quality in others. He was a true handyman; there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He taught his family “A job worth doing, is worth doing well”.

Glen was predeceased by his wife, June, in 1983 and his two brothers. He is lovingly remembered by daughters Wendy (Tom), Tracy (Brock), Christy (Ed), Melanie (Roy), his eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A celebration of Glen’s life will be held on May 20, 2017, which would have been his 90th birthday. Details of venue and time will be announced at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to Better at Home, c/o Hope Care Transit Society in Glen’s memory.
