August 27, 1929 - April 3, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce Bud Ashdown; our husband, father, (great) grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on April 3. Remembered as an honest, kind-hearted man who was always willing to lend a hand and volunteer in the local community, Bud led a long and fulfilling life.
Bud started his roots in Hope in 1955 working for BC Tel (Telus), servicing the community and Fraser Canyon, and after marrying Muriel in 1963 and raising a family there he became a fixture in the community for the rest of his life.
Bud's love for the outdoors was evident in the many family camping and touring adventures throughout BC and beyond, his numerous ascents of mountains and hills in the area, and his meticulous and loving care of the plants, shrubs and flowers in his own yard.
Although Bud will be deeply missed, he leaves his family and friends with a legacy of great memories and lessons on how to live an exemplary life by treating others with respect, kindness and dignity and how to consistently be a good human being.
Bud is survived and missed by his wife Muriel of 57 years, their children Kelly (Peggy), Jody (Tim), Brad (Heather) and Shawn (Inger), 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at a later date at the United Church where Bud was a longtime member of the congregation and proud provider of upkeep of the Church and grounds for many years.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to find an opportunity to give of yourself to someone in need, as Bud always did.
