The family announces with great sadness that Jacqueline (Jackie) Belair died peacefully in her sleep on May 22, 2019 at Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope, B.C.
Jacqueline Marie Desgroseilliers was born on August 30, 1933 in Hearst, Ontario. She was the sixth child and younger daughter of Eugene and Juliette (Beauvais) Desgroseilliers. Jacqueline grew up in small communities in Ontario and northwest Quebec, until the family settled in Blue Water, near Sarnia, Ontario in the early 1940s. She married Maurice Belair on December 18, 1954 in Sarnia. In 1958, the couple moved to Timmins, Ontario, where their children were born. The family moved to Hope, B.C. in 1979 when Maurice joined his brother Ray in a road-building business.
Jacqueline is survived by her daughters Yvonne (Michael) Demoskoff and Marianne (Gabriel) Harvey of Hope, by her son Raymond (Nenita) Belair of Langley, B.C., by her grandchildren Nicholas Demoskoff and Jason and Natalie Harvey, and by her great-grandson Jonathan Harvey. She is also survived by her sisters Madeleine Legault and Jeanne d'arc Bozzer, and her brother Raymond Desgroseilliers, all of Ontario. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Joan Laneville of Ontario, and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jacqueline was predeceased by her husband Maurice, by her parents Eugene and Juliette, and by her brothers and sisters Noel Desgroseilliers, Mariette White, Simone Burdan, Marianne Desgroseilliers, Gaston Desgroseilliers, and Normande Handy.
Cremation has been entrusted to McLean's Funeral Services & Crematorium Ltd, Chilliwack, B.C.
A sincere thank you to Dr. Love and Dr. Haffey for their compassionate care of our mother Jacqueline. Thank you, also, to the emergency staff and the palliative nurses at the hospital and to the staff and nurses at Riverside Manor.
A graveside service took place on June 4, 2019 at Our Lady of Good Hope Parish Cemetery in Hope, B.C. Father Gordon Cook, OMI, celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or to the charity of your choice.
