Legault, Jean-Paul Rheal (Ray)

April 18, 1940 - June 1, 2016

After a long hard battle with heart and kidney failure, Ray passed away peacefully with family by his side. He was born in Warren, Ontario. He married Theresa (Terri) and had five children. They all moved to Hope in 1968 where he worked at Giant Mascot Mine for a number of years before opening Ray's News and Book Store and Ray's Light Delivery Service. He also worked for the Sheriff's Office in Hope and Chilliwack for 20 years. Ray was instrumental in starting up the Youth Softball in the 1970's, and was very active in Hope Brigade Days and Canadian Foresters for many years.

Ray was predeceased by his father Laurier, mother Sara, brothers Gilbert and Claude, sister Theresa Armitage, and lifelong best friend Theresa Legault. He will be sadly missed by his "sweetheart" Jean Jorden, children: Juanita (Oran), Janet (Marvin), John (Lisa), Judy (Joseph) and Joyce (Donald), 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also by his brother Bobby (Frances), sisters: Norma Chartrand and Sally (Claude) Dorion, his brother-friend Cecil Kirksey, many nieces and nephews and a lot of extended family and friends. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Botha and the nurses and doctors at ARH and FCH. A special thank you to the Renal department at ARH for the care and attention they have provided over the years. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke or Kidney foundations.
