HUSSEY, John Owen
“Gus” passed away peacefully on Monday, August 27, 2007 in the Fraser Canyon Hospital at the age of 81.
Born in Islington, Tufnell, UK on May 31, 1926. He was a mechanic/machinist in the British Army, serving in Greece and New Zealand before immigrating to Canada in 1963. He resided in Powell River, Chilliwack, Gabriola Island and Quesnel before settling in Hope in 1986.
Gus was predeceased by his wife Phyliss in 1991 and stepson Lloyd Griffiths in 2004.
He is survived by his stepson, Steve Griffiths and family and niece Barbara Farrell of Kamloops.
In addition to his volunteer work as the Service Officer for the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, Gus also was a volunteer driver, taking patients with no means of transportation to medical appointments in the Lower Mainland.
A Memorial Service will be held this Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Lounge of the Royal Canadian Legion. 344 Fort Street, Hope, BC
