It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kazuko Nishimura, age 85, on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope, BC. She was a long-time resident of Hope, having lived here more than 60 years.
Kazuko was predeceased by her husband Yoshio Nishimura, parents Chonosuke and Haruko (Dorothy) Kawaguchi, her brother Mas Kawaguchi and sister Mary Nakakihara.
She is survived by her daughter Judy, son Kenny, granddaughter Arlene and great-granddaughter Amelia. She also leaves behind brothers Yuji (Susan), Izumi (Donna) and Kazuo Kawaguchi as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Kazuko was born in Port Alberni BC where she lived with her family until 1942 when they were relocated to the Tashme Internment Camp, now known as Sunshine Valley. The family repatriated to Japan in 1946 but returned to Canada in 1958 to reside in Hope, BC.
