July 12, 1937 - May 1, 2025
In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on May 1, 2025, due to heart and lung complications.
Born on July 12, 1937, in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, Mom lived a full and extraordinary life marked by resilience, generosity, and unconditional love.
While we mourn her departure, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her: her beloved husband Stan, sons, Keith, Ray, and Zale; her grandchildren, Alicia and Clayton; her parents Rose and Bill; her sister Phyllis, and so many other treasured family members and friends who have been waiting with open arms.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength. Survived by her devoted sister Leone Armstrong, daughter, Lorelie (Dave), Kelly (Ross), and Ronalda, plus an extended family of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless others who were lovingly folded into her "special family" over the years.
Her heart knew no limits when it came to welcoming and caring for those around her.
Mom spent 71 remarkable years in Spuzzum, where she transformed from a young city bride into a seasoned country woman. She raised six children, often without electricity or indoor plumbing, with grit, grace, and an unfailing sense of humour. Her kitchen was her kingdom, and her cooking - her love language.
No pot was too big, no batch of bread too large, no table too small. Feeding people wasn't just what she did, it was who she was.
Six years ago, she sold her beloved Spuzzum homestead and began a new chapter in Hope. There, she found not just a new home, but a new tribe of dear friends, Trish, Barb, Darline, Rhonda, Bev, Elaine, Sharon, and Ronna who brought laughter, companionship, and even a first ever - Happy Hour at the age of 84! Mom so enjoyed all her neighbour's and all the furry friends who graced her doorstep for a treat. Also, special mention to Sheri for the many hours of support and company she offered Mom.
Known lovingly as "GMA" to many, her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Yet her spirit lives on in the lessons she taught, the meals she made, the love she gave so freely, and the memories we hold dear. So, Mom, gather the troops up there, get everyone in order - just like only you could. Down here, we've got this.
With endless love and gratitude, your family.
