It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Loretta Rudyk on November 25, 2022 at the age of 53. She left us peacefully at home in the arms of her loving husband Pav in their tiny town of Hope, BC.
She is survived by the love of her life, Pav Rudyk, her daughters Kathleen (Trevor) Svedberg and Nicole (Justin) Bailey and her six beloved grandchildren: Aria, Noah, Jamieson, Benjamin, Emerance and Lily. Loretta will be dearly missed by her parents, Leo and Ann Bunyak, sister Brenda and brother Leonard, their families, many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Loretta was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on June 12, 1969. Reflecting on her childhood, she often said there was never a time she couldn't recall music filling the family home.
From an early age, Loretta showed immense talent as a singer and songwriter. Entertaining was in Loretta's blood (after all she was named after the great Loretta Lynn) and she pursued that passion her entire life with great success.
She was known by many professionally as the little lady with a big voice and shared her talent at countless venues throughout the years.
Her strong singing voice was only matched by her unwavering loyalty to her family and friends. Loretta was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of others before her own. She faced every challenge head on with courage and dignity, most recently in her fight with pancreatic cancer. Loretta was a source of inspiration to us all. She will be missed tremendously by everyone whose lives she touched.
By request, there will be no formal service. However, Loretta asked that her birthday continue to be celebrated each year. This June, the family will gather to remember Loretta and her life as a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.
We encourage you to keep her memory close by getting out to enjoy the warmer weather, listening to your favourite music and surrounding yourself with those you love.
