Michael (Mike) Kemash

December 7, 1917 — March 5, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Kemash on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Michael was predeceased by his seven siblings and his middle son, Rod Kemash. He is survived by 4 sons; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Mike was born in Manitoba where he spent his formative years. While working as a miner in Ontario, he met his future wife. They returned to Manitoba and married. Shortly after the birth of his first son (Dave), the family moved to Bralorne, BC. 8 years and 3 sons (Ken, Rod and Bill) later, the family moved to Hope where his youngest son (John) was born. Although Mike worked at various locations in BC, Hope was home to him until 2015 when he moved to Vancouver Island to live with his son, Dave. Mike will be thought of often with love and always with a smile, as he brought a smile to the faces of so many people during his long life. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at The Gardens in Qualicum Beach for all that they did for their family and especially for Mike. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 2017 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at The Hope Legion Hall, 34 Fort St, Hope, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations on Mike’s behalf to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. To send a condolence to the family please visit www.yatesmemorial.ca
